Weapons Supported: Any
Requirements: Must be a priest of Bahamut. Various oaths of "office" and such are required.
Notes: The Claw is probably the only truly active branch of the Church. They are universally feared. Think of these folks as sort of a traveling Inquisition.
They are headquartered in the duchy of Waltham, about a half day's ride north of Waltham City.
Oddly enough, they have not always been quite so intolerant as they are now. In fact, prior to about twenty years ago the mission of the Claw was one of protection for the weak. But, about that time a younger man rose to the position of Abbot of the Claw. His intense hatred of magic and natural charisma combined with the virtual power void in the Church led to the situation we have now. The Claw teaches that magic is by its very nature evil, the Church goes along and the populace fall into line. Failure to do so tends to get a person branded a witch -- after all only a witch would defend a witch.
The actual political power wielded by the Claw varies from duchy to duchy. In Chesterton and Devonshire, for instance, they carry no more power than any other branch of the Church (except in the province of Theonomy in the duchy of Devonshire). In McKitrick they are very careful to follow the letter of the law at all instances. They are extremely powerful in Lethbridge (to the Duke's dismay) and Hudson, and are virtually a branch of the government in Waltham.
A few of their favorite hang-ups include magic ("witches" are burned), heathens (i.e., folks who aren't extremely devout worshippers of the Platinum One -- same fate as witches). They have a penchant for finding magical items and destroying them.
