James Meredith Pollack d'Hudson is an impressive man. The first thing one
notices in a room, is James. He is roughly the same size and build as Henry
Stanley (that is, about 6-6 and 250 lb.. of raw muscle) with black hair, deep
drown eyes, and a deep, resonant voice likened to thunder. He is an eloquent
speaker. While he can win an argument with most people on that skill alone, he
is known for his manner of argument. When he makes a case for something, it is
known to be air-tight, and logically sound. He is, in general, a thinking man,
prone more to introspection and logical pursuits than to social events. His
respect at court is derived not from social popularity but from the
thoroughness and skill with which he strips issues down to their base
components.
Mirriam is a tall woman, about 5 feet 11. Like all the Devonshire women, she is
fair of skin and thin of build. Her hair is flaming red. Socially, she is quiet
and aloof. She is somewhat embittered, and is not popular among the other
ladies.
The marriage of James and Mirriam had been arranged, as are all such unions.
He, having just taken his seat as the Duke, arranged the wedding with the Duke
of Devonshire. She protested, but to no avail. The wedding was politically
sound for both parties, her feelings did not matter. She never forgave her
nephew, nor her husband, for this. The years have left her cold and bitter.
In the beginning, James loved her very much. But, there is only so much a
person can take. Over the years, they have grown steadily apart. Such that now,
their union is no more than an expedient legal arrangement for the preservation
of the lines of succession.
Beaumont is the heir. He is very much his father's son, and they are very close.
Other siblings include Anastasia, Clarice, Melinda, and Henry.
