Eugene is nearly as disappointing to his father as Rabban was. But, where Rabban was overly bold, Eugene is overly timid. He is shy to the point that it is almost physically painful to watch him try to deal with a large group.
Eugene is currently the head of McKitrick's `Foreign Legion' a unit being formed Specifically from non-McKitrick Freemen.
Julia, has moved from the background during Rabban's life to the forefront of McKitrick politics. She is currently favored as the next Duchess of McKitrick, Eugene having publicly expressed his desire to pursue other goals. Julia is a dynamic young lady and seems to Out McKitrick even James. Most of the scandals of her youth have been forgiven by the Duke and she now seeks to earn his favor by proving her ability, and desire to rule.
Gillium, the younger of the twins, is married to Herbert of Tudor and is said to run a meticulous household. She leaves little to chance and few dare gossip about her.
Kirtley, married to Friedrich of Tudor, is said to have inherited her father's temper. Rumor has it that after one of Friedrich's particularly notorious love affairs became public knowledge Kirtley seduced him and afterwards while he lay sleeping she trussed him to the bed, woke him by gently berating Friedrich with one of her high heeled slippers and then threatened to cut his manliness from his body if he did such a thing again. Thereafter, Friedrich has been reluctant to return to his home.
The youngest daughter, Judith, is not universally liked. Oddly enough, though, the folks who do like her are generally the ones that are the most influential. If she has any of the family's psychic abilities, she has never demonstrated such. (This isn't surprising, since the Claw are entirely suspicious of such things.) She is Married to Harold of Lethbridge.
Judith is now and always has been James' favorite. Even Rabban was said to have loved her in his own way.
Torque Mada is also the leading spokesman for the nobility. Removing him from office one way or another would be viewed as an attack on the rest.
Robert has a violent temper but attempts to control his anger when in the presence of his superiors. He also attempts to maintain dignity and decorum at all times. It is said he does all the right things to prove they don't work And for him they quite often don't.
Vlad Tepe's is a pleasant enough fellow for a vampire. His laws are strict and unforgiving, but his lands and people are prosperous. He pays his tribute on time and holds on to a sizeable reserve. As only one major road passes through his lands his expenses are fairly low his personal guard are few but capable.
Vlad's information gathering resources are anything short of miraculous. With no apparent operatives Vlad manage's to be consistently better informed than the Duke.
Vlad is said to be a great magician. Having powers that far surpass any now living today. If he is it would explain a great many things.
Anton is truly an unforgiving man with a lust for violence. His is the only town in McKitrick to feature gladiatorial games. He uses captured brigands for this sport offering any man that can survive 20 matches full pardon and 100 crowns. He has yet to have to pay up.
River City is well run and the primary source of de Rainault's income.
Ivan has managed to turn the small town of Lin into a thriving commerce center his contacts in Waltham city and other major commerce centers has assured him of prosperity regardless of his location. Only the constant brigandage of the Third March has had any effect on his abilities.
Torqua Mada is also a problem for Martha. He continually maneuvers to get her into bed however she evades his approaches by being very good friends with his wife. Torqua Mada's Taxes on Martha's lands are only the normal negotiated amounts as he is trying to prove to her that his favor has it's advantages. Martha however believes that being the attention of his lust has more advantages and is unlikely to succumb to his desires.
Publicly John is the epitome of Chivalry. He will stop to help even the most humble serf in need. His supporters among the guilds and the Farmer's union are many. The only complaint any have is his prominent use of slaves, who are ineligible for the farmer's union.
Privately the Duke suspects that John has been supporting the Brigands in an attempt to raise himself to Marquis. James McKitrick has sent the COE to investigate John on more occasions than he cares to admit to however John has never been implicated. James does have evidence that someone of power in the Third March is responsible for the brigandage but just who is impossible to say at this point.
Judge's note: John isn't necessarily the culprit just the best guess.
Strictly speaking this is quite irregular however Duke McKitrick understands the necessity and turns a blind eye to the situation.
Noo Nian is medium height and build. He takes excellent care of himself and is a fine swordsman & Lancer. He does not participate in tournaments so he has no proper rating. He is handsome, and polite but when insulted he is quick to anger.
His son, Sir Hesketh, an NPC, is very big - bigger than his father, tougher, almost as smart, and is making himself as capable as he can. While generally upholding the letter of the law and it's intent with regards to chivalry, he has at times proven that if down and dirty is called for, he's still the man you're after. He's currently the #3 runner up with lance at the Hampshire fair (and the #2 person almost wasn't). He is notable for his razor wit and nearly bald head. Not to mention his, er, mottled, horse "Wholestein." His other claim to fame is running a member of the Claw through with his lance, an event that lead to McKitrick's recognizing the Claw formally as a part of the army of Waltham. He's currently wooing Elisabeth Stanley.
His eldest daughter is almost as big as his son. Her claim to fame is what she did to a son of a Marquis she was dating. He let slip in public a comparison of her to "a barnyard animal." Her brothers stopped her from taking her knife and carving trophies off the man. While doing so she proved that Tudor plate will not stop a determined Lady Hesketh with a dagger. They extracted a promise from her not to knife the man and she did agree not to do so. She did, however, use her dainty little hand to backhand the man. He lost three teeth and consciousness. She then proceeded to do him grievous harm with her bare hand and slippered foot. The man walks to this day with a limp, but presses no claim against her. He has instead taken up diplomacy with greatly more success.
Jacob himself and Worsle are of little interest being just another of many barons controlling an insignificant little town on the edge of McKitrick's holdings. Some of his family is of a bit more concern.
Jacob's only child a girl, Jessica, recently chose to marry a young man Robin by name. Jacob then adopted Robin in order so as to maintain his line (Legally Jessica was no longer a member of Jacob's family and so the adoption was a very reasonable course of action.
Robin's family are land holders within Hesketh's lands and so Robin is required to serve military duty. He is effectively even though not legally a knight.
Robin being a bit of a loud mouth and a bully has been in many altercations and has become somewhat skilled. He unfortunately managed to get into an altercation with an unknown runt of a mercenary with greater skill. Robins injuries were debilitating and the runt Luther by name was found guilty of Assault. He was fined and sentenced to provide work replacement for the injured Robin. Unfortunately Robin's injuries included his reproductive systems thus making him impotent. Luther has taken full advantage of Robin's injuries and has been attempting to provide him with an heir. Robin on the other hand has taken it upon himself to send Luther on every minor or even slightly dangerous mission that came his way.
