Duke Michael Lawrence Waltham is a graceful man of medium height. His body is well-toned, but he has the physique of a dancer or gymnast, not a body- builder. His eyes are gray and his hair is brown. He has a neat, closely-cropped beard. Waltham is the embodiment of entrepreneurial spirit, always cooking up new schemes to enhance his own wealth, or that of his duchy. He is a subtle man who knows that information is a weapon, and that a few well-placed cuts can due more damage than a single blow of brute force. He is not without his own peculiar brand of honor, though, and once he makes a contract, he never violates its letter; woe to the one who leaves unfortunate loopholes, though. Waltham, is young, and if his schemes don't get him killed, he should be ruling Waltham for a long time to come. Duchess Blair Arden Waltham is the attractive younger sister of Duke McKitrick. Like her brother, she is tall. In fact, in bare feet she stands the same height as her husband. She has all her brother's cunning, but no love for her home duchy. She was frustrated at being treated like an object, and her arranged marriage to Duke Waltham was just another in a long series of indignities foisted upon her. Once in Waltham, though, she was pleasantly surprised at the role Duke Waltham had prepared for her. She now wields significant but little- known influence in matters of state. Lawrence, who succeeded his brother Criag as heir is a priest of the Claw. Prior to his comfirmation as heir he exhibited no interest in politics, but has taken his new responsibilities seriously, though he is reputed to disagree with his father on many policy points.Craig Michael Waltham, former heir to the throne, was a dashing young man in the mold of his father. He was married to Mary, a younger daughter of Duke Chesterton.. He was killed in a fall form a horse while riding home to console his wife after the death of their son.
The Siblings
The eldest daughter, Cory Blair Waltham, apprenticed with the Weaver's Guild, though she also spends much time with her mother. The two are often seen having intense discussions about some unknown topic. Cory is blossoming into quite an attractive young woman, with wavy brown hair and eyes the color of her father's.Adare Marie is an unusual one, she is angular and awkward, and always seems dissatisfied. she has few friends and spends her time hanging around the castle with a sullen expression on her face.
Conal Aidan is the youngest. It is hard to tell at this age what he will develop into. right, now, he's just your typical boy.
Others
Avila Segovia San Sebastian has been commander of The Watch since before Michael was Duke. He is a small olive-skinned man with a strange accent; nobody knows where he comes from. Avila was close friends with Michael's father, and Michael feels almost as if Avila were an uncle. Avila is completely loyal to the Waltham family, and will use any means to protect them. Duke Waltham trusts him absolutely. Everyone else is afraid of him.Softglove, Count San Sebastian's right-hand man. Lieutenant of the Watch. Onetime trainer of Avila's daughter Evaine.
